Hope Walk Against Violence: Step Up for Survivors

"Every step we take brings us closer to a safer , stronger community. "

EVENT OVERVIEW:

Annual Hope Walk Against Violence

Join us for the 10th Annual Hope Walk Against Violence—an inspiring event where survivors, advocates, and community members come together to raise awareness and funds to support victims of domestic violence. Over the years, we have also walked in honor of gun violence victims, victims of war, and breast cancer survivors to show solidarity against violence in all forms.

By walking with us, you are helping provide crisis intervention, emergency housing, food, safety planning, and critical support services to survivors who need it most.

Date: Saturday, September 4, 2025

Location: Starting on the Charleston side of the Ravenel Bridge and ending on the Mount Pleasant side.

Time: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Cause: Annual fundraiser for Palmetto Hope Network as we serve survivors and honor victims of domestic violence

Why We Walk:

In South Carolina, two women are killed for every 100,000 people—more than twice the national average. The Violence Policy Center ranks South Carolina #6 in the nation for women murdered by men.

For survivors of domestic violence, the most dangerous time is when they leave. 50% of injuries and 75% of domestic homicides occur after the relationship ends.

By walking together, we are sending a powerful message:

  • We stand with survivors.
  • We say NO to violence.
  • We raise funds to provide life-saving services.

How Your Participation Helps:

Every step makes a difference. Your involvement directly supports Palmetto Hope Network's life-saving services:

  • Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate assistance to survivors in dangerous situations.

  • Emergency Housing: Offering safe motel placement when no shelter beds are available.

  • Food & Basic Needs: Ensuring survivors and their families have essentials during crises.

  • Advocacy & Support: Guiding survivors through legal processes and connecting them with vital services.

“Currently, for every five calls we receive on a weekend, our budget only allows us to house a fraction of the victims. Your support helps us change that.”
